98,000 STUDENTS TO GET LAPTOPS WORTH 4.0 BILLION RUPPEES UNDER PMYP

 Under the Prime Minister’s National Programme for the Provision of Laptops among more than 98,000 talented students of public sector universities undertaking higher education across the federation, awarding of laptops ceremony has been scheduled tomorrow (29 October 2014) at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi.

This was decided in a high-level meeting chaired by the Chairperson of the Prime Minister Youth Programme, Mohtarma Maryam Nawaz Sharif, here today at PM House.

The meeting decided to complete the distribution of more than 98,000 laptops among the students throughout the country by the end of November 2014.  While reviewing the arrangements of the distribution ceremony, the Chairperson informed the meeting that as per promise with the youth of the country, the present democratic government would distribute the laptops among the students hailing from all the provinces including FATA, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan with an objective to boost the scope of research, quality education and improved access to information and communication technology among the graduate and post-graduate level students in the country.

The Chairperson further apprised the participants that the 4.0 billion rupees’ Prime Minister’s Provision of Laptop Scheme would cover a total of 100,000 students across the federation and added that high quality laptops “Assembled in Pakistan” by Haier Electrical Appliances Corporation, China would be distributed among the students.

Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the maiden launch of the National Laptop Programme in Islamabad on 21 June 2014.
